I am passionate about birth and families and have been since ever since I had my oldest daughter. I am married with three wonderful children (daughter born in ‘97, son in ‘99 and daughter in ‘02). They are all wonderfully supportive of me and the work that I do. I believe that your family can benefit enormously from any (or all) of my different roles in this exciting time. My personal philosophy about birth is that it is a normal process that works well when left alone. I also believe that we are lucky to have technology available for the times that it is truly needed. I believe that women who are pregnant are not sick, but rather healthy and should be treated as such.
My goal as a childbirth instructor is to educate a woman and her partner regarding the variety of options available to them so that they can make educated decisions regarding the birth of their baby. As Diana Korte states in A Good Birth, A Safe Birth. “If you don’t know what your options are, then you don’t have any”.
I do consider it an honor and privilege when I am invited to be present at the birth of your child. I have been certified as a doula with DONA since 2001 and am truly honored when a couple asks me to assist at their birth. My role as your doula is to help you have the best and most satisfying birth experience as defined by you. I will work with your partner so that you are fully supported during your labor.
Welcoming a baby into your family is a life-altering event. Allow me to help ease this transition by giving you unconditional support, non-judgmental care and helping you develop and trust your own mothering instincts. I love assisting mothers (and fathers) as they learn about their baby. I will assist you by doing light housework (laundry, dishes, tidying up), preparing food for you, running errands, and assist you with your newborn (breastfeeding support and education, bathing and soothing). My goal is to help you feel more confident in your role as mother.
