Pregnancy, birth and postpartum are amazing times in a couples’ life. It is a journey that can be confusing and seemingly limited choices or it can be empowering and filled with love and joy. My goal is to help the two of you navigate this precious time.
Throughout the ages women have been giving birth with the support of their relatives and friends. Nowadays most of us don’t have family readily available to give us the support we need during this exciting time. Yet having a child is a life altering event that involves a host of physical, emotional and hormonal changes. It’s nice to know there is someone that can help make the process smoother and more enjoyable.
As your childbirth educator and/or doula, I will help educate and prepare you for the birth process so that you will be confident in your ability to navigate your unique path towards birth.
Bradley classes train couples who want to be as educated as possible about the birth process.
The Bradley Method ® is a childbirth preparation method that teaches you about pregnancy, nutrition and exercise, the normal progression of pregnancy and birth, effective pain management techniques, pros and cons of medical interventions, the benefits of breastfeeding and how to be a knowledgeable and integral part of the whole process.
When serving as your birth doula, I will be there to support you throughout your pregnancy when you have questions, as well as through the birth, providing comfort and support to both you and your partner so that you can welcome your baby with joy.
Once you and your partner have welcomed your baby into this world, I will assist you (as a postpartum doula) with integrating your baby into your family.
According to DONA’s website: The word “doula” comes from the ancient Greek meaning “a woman who serves” and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
